The legal requirements for impartiality and unbiased coverage of contestants should be overseen by an independent media regulatory body, which should proactively ensure effective remedies for violations and act upon all complaints received in a timely manner. To facilitate citizens’ access to impartial, and analytical information, the constitutionally guaranteed independence and impartiality of public broadcasters should be strengthened by independent and transparent appointments of its management, an independent editorial policy, and effective oversight.
